Welcome

I hope this blog will be a direct insight to my travels. Learning curves, hopefully, not mountains. People, emotions and cultures. The really important elements of life.

Saturday 30th Oct from Jaisalmer

Hello everyone sorry its been a couple of days.....we decided to stay in Puskar for a total of three nights in the end. That is the beauty of being driven around like a rich person you are able to adapt your itinerary as you go. We loved the place so much, it has such a lovely feel to it, we met up with the guru guy yesterday and had 'chi' (well I don't cos its a very sweet white tea made as we make coffee with hot milk, so I drink lemon tea which is very good) with him and his family, very interesting to listen to and we were surrounded by monkeys jumping above us from one building to the other.
We were walking down the 'high street' yesterday and walked closely past a cow as you do all the time and for some reason it suddenly dropped its head and butted me to the left
side of the groin with its horn! I couldn't believe it , I was fine as it clearly did not put much weight behind it but it made me think how it could have been as that is where the femoral artery is! The Guru said it only happens occasionally when they become irritable! I was pretty irritable!
We found another nice place to eat last night and again they whispered an invitation to purchase beer with our meal, all completely against all the rules of the town, so we had beer served in a stainless steel tea pot this time and had to agree to wrap the serviette around the glass.
So in all we were there three nights and decided to miss Udaipur out completely and not stay overnight in Bikaner but just pass through. We have chatted to many people who have visited and consider those nothing to write home about. Re arranging has also allowed us to have a total of three nights in Jaisalmer. We knew we would not arrive until mid afternoon and here we are just got here. We have dropped the luggage at the hotel, seems to be a nice one and dashed off through the 'town' in search of an Internet cafe.
We are going on a safari tomorrow night, we drive into the desert, this place is only 56 klm from Pakistan, and do the camp fire with the camel people who also cook for us. We sleep under the stars and they serve us breakfast in the morning before going back here by jeep. We wanted a night after the desert in the hotel so we could shower and sort ourselves before continuing with our trip hence the need for three nights in this area.
We found a fantastic juice bar in Puskar, pure fruit juice and any mix, they also do a yummy bowl of fruit, yogurt, home made muesli and topped with honey, Dad I thought of you when I had mine this morning. Its served in a casserole dish so very filling.
We had a long journey in the car today passing many hut settlements with people working in the fields, also many camels either grazing or carrying loads or pulling carts. There was some road works and several level crossings. We had some rain as we approached this town but all cleared up now.
We are trying to book our train to Haridwar for the 4th Nov but not having much joy. Its quite expensive and full! Still we will persist.
Must say bye for now take care and love you xxx
